Sensor/Switch Help

My brain hurts trying to figure out where this goes. I took it out to clean off the rust and paint it.... months later, I am super lost now.

The only place that this seemed to plug into is the green/red green/blue molex connector at the 4 AT relay. I don't think it goes there.
What am I looking at here? What does this screw into?

Thanks!!!

It looks like a power steering pressure sensor. Is this an s4?

I just put every piece back into my S5 and this doesn't look familiar lol. Maybe S4 specific? Can you post a picture of the remaining black part on the left? I just swapped my power steering sensor since I broke the wire and i don't think it had that plunger mechanism...

Seeing as I have 2 MT FCs and haven't seen this it may very well be an AT part. Kinda looks threaded like our reverse and fifth gear switches...

You can see similar design, different size.

Almost looks like that spring is missing

Thank you for the help everyone. This is an S4 GXL with air conditioning. No mods have been done except some very small teaks besides the charging system.

This sensor has two black wires on the other side with a two position molex connector. Sorry for the lousy picture.

I never get sick, today is my birthday and I have a stomach bug. I also worked 12 hours today between my regular joband replacing a front control arm on my daily.... a new picture will have to wait until Wednesday.

Thank again!!

Here is a better pictures of the wires and molex connector.

I checked for the power steering pressure sensor and it is intact.

Just did a Google lens image search. Results pop up for transmission switches of various kinds to include reverse switches. Miata reverse switches have the same connector. Unfortunately I can't find much on anything automatic transmission rx-7 parts so I don't know if they have the same switches or not. Closest thing in the fsm with same connector I see is a lockout control solenoid, and this doesn't really look like a solenoid. Good luck with the search! Id start looking for holes in my transmission area.

I have a GXL 5 speed. Sorry that I didn't post this earlier.

I will look a bit harder. Now that I foolishly reinstalled my front sub-frame, this will be more difficult. Thanks again.

could it be the pressure sensor that goes in the brake master cylinder?

Yes, that's it. Thank you!!!

I suppose that I should have waited until I put the braking system back together. It would have been rather obvious.
