Sensor on exhaust? what is it?
:The sensor on my factory exhaust fell off when i bought my new car, it is an 87 N/A
what is it & what might this cause, it smokes when its cold an when over revd', I am tring to keep it from going over 4,000 RPMS cause it starts smoking. what in the world would that be from? the sensor would not make it smoke would it?

this is not the 02 sensor i don't think. it is a little further back and did not have a wire, it had a thin pipe connecting it to something.

It had a pipe, not a wire? Was it on the catalytic converter? That's the backpressure feed to the aux-port actuators. Won't cause any problems, except for a lack of power over 3800 rpm.
