Hey I've got a 1988 SE model (aka the poor man's rx7) great car and all. I just bought it like..... 7weeks ago, and I was changing a fuse for the interior lights because they didn't work, but after doing so I noticed that when I lock the car from the out side that my security light on the center con. lights up. Does the RX7 SE 88 come with some kind of thief protection, or is this simply a light to tell you that the key is in the door?

Naww its an alarm system. some ppl have problems with it going off for no reason at all but mines is fine. ive only hear about my alarm working from the previous owner when someone broke the window. yo where in MD r u?

 

Rockville, and the owner of the car didn't give me a remote for it, so can I just pick one up from mazda?

 

The security light will come on when you lock the doors with the interior latch switches.

In 88, the light will come on for about 30 seconds, and then start flashing once every other second.

The system protects: entry without a key and/or opening the hood or truck/hatch while armed.

You must use the key in the door however to unlock and disarm the system. There is no remote control available in the USA for the system.

 

seeing how people are looking at this post, I'm interested in buying a driver side door handle thingy. I know thingy doesn't discribe much, but I can't open the driver side door from outside the car because something is broken. like it pulls up, and acts like the door should be open, but doesn't actually open

 

if you want used, you should post in the For sale/ wanted section with "WTB door handle" as the title.

If you want new, Mazdatrix has them in stock
