My sucurity light doesn't want to turn off, also the car wont start now!! Dont know what to do.. PLEASE HELP!!

 

did you unlock the drivers door with the key

 

hey sorry to ssteal the thread but im having a similiar problem(maybe) i turn the key to the left the light goes on but the door doesnt lock, turn the key to the right door locks but no light. is this normal?

 

To arm the system, you need to lock the door while the door is open, then close the door while holding up on the door handle.

To disarm the system you turn the key in a door or the hatch/trunk to the unlock position. It will not disarm with the ignition switch.

 

not trying to thread jack just alittle question. what size bulb is it? i've been looking everywhere and can't find one

 

Found at most auto parts stores. European dash light bulb. Take the old bulb in with you to compare.

The bulb is also listed in the FSM

 

okey i just looked through the fsm section 15-111 and i can't find the bulb info anywhere, i'd searched on this a couple months ago and came up with nothing then.

as to the thread topic, i noticed in my receipts from the previous owner they took it to the dealer at one point in 91 because the security light would not go off. possibly why mine is burned out, maybe bad solder joints in security module???

 

on a 91, the security module is the CPU (body computer).

 

no i was saying in 91, my car is a 88, so 3 years into it's life

 

if you look at the wiring diaghram in fsm page 50-94 it shows the security system wiring, can someone explain that schematic please? i know wiring but not reading schems

 

What about it do you need to know?

 

1. what type of bulb is it?
2. what would cause it to stay on?

 

1. It might be in the FAQ. If not, take it out and match it at the store.

2. From what I can tell it's linked to the following things...
- Hatchback Door Switch
- Door Switch
- Door Key Cylinder Switch
- Door Lock Link Switch
- Rear Hatch-Back Key Cylinder Switch
- Hood Switch
