Second Pilot Bearing Demolished

this is the second time my pilot bearing has locked up the input shaft of trans. i am putting it back together in 6 days. input shaft has a little play but not to much so input shaft bearing is not a suspect. does anyone have any pointers so i wont have to tear it apart again?

Is your input shaft scored or scratched? Are you installing the pilot bearing seal and packing your pilot bearing with a lot of grease before installing the bearing?

i dunno about the seal, i heard from many that they dont put it due to trouble installing tranny and damaging it on the way. pilot bearing + synthetic grease ftw.
