Seats for my 91 Rx7 FC
I just bought my first car which is a 91 Rx7 FC, it needs a lot of love. Being from 91 and still having the OEM seats, they are ripped real badly and just need to be replaced. So I would like to know what seat to get for it that I can hopefully keep in it for a good while, if someone could help me that would be amazing Also I think i will be updating this post with a list of things i need so if someone finds something i can order or something like that then they can

used seats are cheap ...but bulky to ship.check your regional Craigslist or the FS Sections on the Forum...Facebook pages are popping up with guys selling parts every 5 seconds seems like..heh,heh!
you can ponder EBay reupholstered seat covers if your "budget"( I laugh at that word..lol!) won't pardon the Pun,Cover your ideal choice like a New Bride or Momo seat!

I've tried several different seats in my FC, from Corbeaus to other OEMs (Honda CRX) and nothing is as comfortable as the stock cloth seats.
Do yourself a favor and remove the seats- might as well see what's hiding underneath anyway- and take a look at the weird, asymmetrical mounting (specifically the passenger side), so you know what you're up against when fitting anything but the stockers.
Hradroom is also an issue, especially if you have a sunroof.
I've made several long journeys in mine and the original seats were fine, even after 12+ hours.
All bets are off if you're racing but that begs the question of why the hell you'd race an FC to begin with.

I agree, stock seats are the best for a stock feel. Find a nice upholstery shop and get a quote. it shouldnt be to bad.

Ya think?
A new Honda Civic will blow the doors off even a mildly modded FC turbo and doesn't suffer from the poor mileage and reliability issues of the rotary. Unless your racing org gives style points for the cool factor, why start from behind the eight ball?
I think the FC is a great and interesting GT car and mine has been a wonderful daily driver for a decade now but it is what it is and that ain't a racer.

The problem with seats (and chairs in general) is that just plopping into them for a few minutes doesn't really tell you anything.
What initially seems comfy can become agonizing after a few hours, either too soft, too hard or badly placed bolstering (especially in the lumbar area).
OEMs are definitely the way to go for ease of installation and also because they'll match your door panels (a not to be underestimated advantage). Of course, shipping can be brutally expensive, so perhaps consider this...
Find a set of stockers that match your interior and have the seller remove the covers and just ship them. Maybe even the foam if it's in good condition, although the foam is pretty easy to deal with locally if need be.
Shipping would be minimal and install is easy, even for an amateur.
If this idea doesn't appeal, I'd look at Miata seats...they're abundant, cheap and pretty nice. we put 'em in the Z and like them fine.
Found a mint set of black cloth ones on local CL for $100 (because drift kiddies love their Pep Boys "racing seats").
Seats are the keystone to good ergonomics and the coolest seats in the world are useless if they don't fit you and the car properly.

I am in the same position right now with the factory seats but mine arent to bad, just some small tears on the driver bolsters at
the seams and piping. As far as cost comparison to aftermarket seats by the time you but rails you are looking at the same
cost and trust me after market seats just dont have the same feel as the factory, yes they have the cool factor and may hug you a little tighter or sit lower etc. But again in my opinion there is nothing better than the factory seat.
