Seats in convertable

I'm about to get new seats for my vert. Does anyone have an idea what the stock leather seats with the speakers in the headrests weigh? I want to make sure the new ones are significantly lighter than stock.
Also, I'm 5-10 and 200 lbs. Any suggestions on a seat that is:
1: big enough and comfortable
2: lighter than stock
3: not outrageously expensive
4: can still use factory belts, mounts
Thanks in advance.

The stock seats with both leather and headrest speakers weigh about 40 lbs (about 5 lbs heavier than standard cloth- non speaker headrest convertible/GXL versions).

And there will not be anything aftermarket that uses the factory mazda mounts, without adapter plates, or custom work.

There were also a couple threads in the last week about ebay seats. Do a quick search (button on top right) and they should turn up.

I think the consensus is that the EBay seats are lighter, but definitely require custom mount work or some kind of adapter plates as Mark as mentioned. Also, the quality seems to be decent on the Ebay ones, but I've never personally owned them -- that's just what I've heard from others that have.

In my opinion, the EBay seats are great for someone on a budget that wants a decent looking seat, but not willing to pay $300+ each per seat. Just keep in mind that you're not buying Sparcos or Recaros, and I think you'll be pleasantly satisfied.

I put a set of honda prelude seats in mine. They are alot lighter than stock, and they look great. It cost me $130 to have them fabricated to fit, but it was worth it. If you have access to a welder, you could do it yourself rather easily.

If your car was pearl white like mine, that would really be a coincidence

Maybe I have more money to spend than I thought. One of the mags had a big comparo on seats a few months back. I was figuring around $400 each, plus maybe $100 each for mounting.

Does that change anyones reccomendations?

I plan to get some from e-Bay for $99 +$115 for shipping for seats that are black and blue like my car. I cannot remeber the guy but they are on there everyday for that price. No way will I pay $400 a seat unless they are 8 way power leather, with heat and massage.

you should pick up a copy of the issue of scc where they reviewed over 100 seats. a 2-way adjustable aftermarket leather seat is almost $1000. Seats aint cheap.
