seatbelt recall

just came back from the mazda dealership, where i waited 1 hour for them to inspect my car before they can determined what to do about my nonworking s5 automatic seatbelts. The guy told me that it was an electrical proplem, and told me i should get it diagnose which is $240, i told them that shouldn't the recall have this coverd for free? and he said its an electical problem i had, and its not coverd. Are they bullshittin?

well the last thing i remembered, VEHICLE MANUFACTURES ARE SUPPOSE TO COVER THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM BECUASE.....(the magic answer) IF YOU GET CUAGHT IN A BAD ACCIDENT AND SOME THING HAPPENS, SOME ONE IS GOING TO START POINTING FINGERS....Basically, if you did not tamper with any of the electrical and the seat belt goes dead, Mazda atleast has some obligation to fix their own inventions that are suppose to work for as long as the car is running. Thats my 2 cents, I owned another car that had auto seat belts and the dealer fixed it for free becuase they didnt want a 1 million dollar law suite pending becuase of neglagence.

Tell them to fix it for free under the warranty or threaten to call Mazda Corp USA. Also you can search and there will be a copy of the actual recall letter that you can print and shove in their face.

Threaten them with calling Mazda HQ USA.... as said above. This will probably net you the best results.

And wait a second.... $240 diagnostic fee? WTF? How much do they charge for shoprate per hour? No F'ing way I would give them $240 to source a problem that the answer is well known for.

well, i didn't pay them yet, they told me to comeback and get it diagnose for $240. Which i'm not gonna do. And the problem is, I think the original owner tamperd wit it, and pulled the fuse, so it will work manually.

Make sure they don't break the A-pillar plastic pieces. I had mine done, and after I went to pick the car up, the A-pillar plastic fell off and hit me in the head. They broke it and TAPED it back together. The a holes at the stealership refused to replace the broken part. I think it was completely on them. It was not broken when it went in there, why was it broken when I got it back. They were happy to try and sell me a new one for like 80 bucks, whick the told me was a discounted price.
