Well, I guess the OP did say his objective was just to get the car to pass inspection for registration purposes.

In the past three years, I've been rear-ended twice while stopped at a traffic light with no place to go but into the car in front of me or into oncoming traffic to my left. I wonder how driving skill was supposed to help me in those instances...

See, that's just it...a "good" driver would have gone up.

Now you know.

Damn i'm too good maybe that's why my boss told me and I quote "Your electrical knowledge alone is worth what I pay you"

Typical how this forum told me "JUST REPLACE IT". Typical dummy ****, I don't know how it works just throw parts at it. That's why I make the big bucks and you don't PAL.

And will I tell this **** poor half assed forum how I fixed it?

I only got 3 words for you.

GET A JOB!

Well actually, I don't think anybody here insisted you had to replace anything. You asked us how to get the "recall" parts:

Since the recall is open and the repair is free for your car, I think the advice was generally to take the car to Mazda and have the work done on their dime. I don't think that was terrible advice. Unfortunately, Mazda's policy is not to give the recall parts to the consumer without making sure they have been installed to their satisfaction. I'm sure this is for reasons of liability.

It is cool that you managed to fix the belt system yourself. There is always a nice sense of accomplishment that goes along with that.

However, my recollection of the recall was that Mazda believed there was a design defect with the tracks for these belts which would cause them to jam midway through their travel. I think the cable that pulls the belts slips out of the track and binds in the moving part of the belt latch. That's what happened to both of mine on my old '90. The recall was not for an electrical issue.

See that's the ignorant, dummy mentality showing through. It's ok man, it's impossible to hide.

Let's see, because I can make something work for free. I'm not like you and have to pay money to have some 2 bit hick tell me it's fixed.

Sorry if my brain power makes you jealous, that's life, get a helmet. Or kill yourself.

Why all the attitude?

You asked for info and got several pertinent responses.
Then it turns out your problem was not even related to the recall (which is primarily concerned with the mousetrack failing, not an electrical problem with the motor) and you were able to fix it yourself.
Congratulations, end of thread.

Seatbelt Recall-Replaced in '97

Driver's side passive seatbelt getting stuck in track. Had called dealer and they told me that it had already been serviced in '97. Damn. (but they could get the part for $800). Was poking around this site...ended up on Rotary Resurrection and found some threads that said it's a lifetime recall, regardless of how many times it's been replaced.

Called Mazda...and POOOF! Getting my auto-seatbelts on the dealer's schedule! (think I'm gonna' have to take the roll bar out first, though...)

Funny because I went through the same thing and they said the recall had expired like a year ago.

Mine were repaired once before on the recall by the previous owner.

They absolutely refuse to honor the recall for me..

If there was a way for me to at least get my auto belt stuck to the back position instead of forwards that would be fine x.x

the way the recall appears on the warranty report does actually make it look like its been done/isn't applicable, its like the only recall that is a lifetime replacement
