Seat Belt beeping DRIVING ME BONKERS!

Ok here's the deal, my seat belt dinger thingy keeps going off WHILE I'm driving, even though my seat belt IS ON. The light however does not come on.... I found that small grey box where the beeping comes from and disconnected it... yet now I've found that my power steering is no longer working if I un hook the grey box... now I'm thinking there's probably a short somewhere between the seat belt switch and the grey box itself...
Or has anyone else had problems with this little grey powersteering/seat belt warning beeper thingy.... ??
Thanks.

Look on the rear A-pilar behind the seat of which ever side is beeping and there is a little plastic square piece that covers a fuse thing all you have to do is just remove the fuse. I had the same problem

The beeping you were hearing was coming from the power steering computer indicating that there is an error in the system. You unplugged the power steering computer, not the seat belt warning.

It wasn't the seat belts if the seat belt warning light was not on.

The seat belt warning is in the CPU, not the power steering.

The A pillar is the metal between the windsheild and the door... The B- pillar is behind the front door, and our cars don't have C pillars, like the SA/FB did.

all that said, do you want to try your answer again, because it didn't make any sense.

Well, I have a related problem with the seat-belt warning light flashing. I'll start tracing it someday, unless anyone else already has :P

ok, so say its my power steering computer, why would it be beeping at me? Could it mean that I'm low on power steering fluid?
It's an '86 GT (American Model).

Things that cause the power steering computer to beep:

Low fluid,
bad or out alignment steering position sensor,
no speed senser from the cluster,
no RPM signal from the engine.
bad power steering pump
