curb vs wheel

yesterday i slid into a curb (it was snowy) and put a dent in the lip of my wheel
today my tire was flat
can i use a hammer or something and bang it back into shape so the tire will stay up??
or is that even causing the flat
i dont have a pic or anything, but any help would be appreciated, cause i drove my pos van to school today that barely runs

you could try to bang it out...you could also put a spare on it and bring the tire to a mechanic shop and see what they can do for ya
