Searched w/no luck: Coolant seals
My coolant seals went on my car, and I had planned on buying a used engine on here, but was wondering if I'd be alright with just buying a shortblock and using the rest from my engine. Also, if I were to do it that way, what would I all have to buy in terms of gaskets and misc. items like that? I tried to search, but didn't have much luck, but if anyone has a link or information it'd be very much appreciated. Thanks, and you guys have a killer site here, very informative.

Coolant seals usually just don't "go" on their own. Usually part of the housing between the combustion chamber and the coolant jackets has "eroded" away. You cannot tell until the block is tore down, but I usually find when a collant seal goes, and engine housing is also shot.
