OK this **** is really freaking me out.... when i rev the car in neutral it makes this high-pitched screech when i pass about 5.5k rpm. Maybe the belts? Im scared to push the car at all now because this is a really nasty sound. Any ideas?
Yeah, most likely belts.
If it squeels more when you jump on the gas quickly then it's probably that. The belts don't have enough tension on them to keep grip so they start slipping.
OR
They are too tight and then it's a bearing in something like the alternator.
it's a lose lose situation with our belt system

my guess is its a crap pulley.
When I first installed my first pulley, I'd eat through two belts every month or two.
Then I bought a dual alternator pulley from a respectable rx-7 aftermarket parts company.
The problem went away instantly. Turned out that the cheap ebay-dual pulley was completely different from the dual pulley purchased from the rx-7 aftermarket company. The ebay pulley marketed as "for rx-7" was probably off another car and was *never* meant for the seven.

hmmmm.. the pulley was installed by a shop and its the pulley he recommended. Its in the shape of a rotor and actually looks pretty cool it would be a shame if i had to get rid of it

When you put new belts on it, it's customary to tighten them, and then run the car for a week or so and re-tighten them after they stretch into shape. I wouldn't panic yet, but I'd lay money your belts are loose.
yeah my mechanic didn't say anything about tightening them twice thats a good idea. The belts don't look like they are very cracked but maybe they are loose. Should i refrain from running the car hard until i fix this problem?
Criticaly: those belts run the waterpump and alternator. If the belts break while you are driving, all the lights on the dash will light up because the alternator won't be charging the system.

Well, if you just replaced them then and they look ok, then they should be fine. I just mentioned that because a lot of people neglect changing their belts. From the sound of it, they just need to be tightened. As mentioned, you have the re-tighten belts after a week or two because they stretch. I would also check your accessory belts as well. Check their condition and if they are too loose.
^^LMAO i knew there was a rodent in the engine.... Anyway, thanx for all the help guys i will tighten those ******* up ASAP. So there aren't any other possibilities right? i want to be sure as i dont have the luxury of being able to sideline my car for repairs very often because i haven't gotten another car yet.
