Talking Searched / RX-8 Shift ****

Hey everyone,

I'm certain I've seen a few threads about this on here before but I searched and I couldn't find anything.

Is anyone using the RX-8 shift **** on their FC? How does it fit? What adapter do you need?

I just bought myself a miata short throw shifter and I want to put the 8 **** on there. So, NOT on my stock shifter.

Anyone know where I can find a writeup or more information on thread size? (Of course I found the s4 and s5 thread sizes in the archives - S4 Shifter: M12 x 1.5 | S5 Shifter: M10 x 1.25) Anyone know the thread size for the miata short throw shifter?

It's the one that Karack used in his writeup. It has the extension and then the fat "super short" shifter.

Cheers,
Cody

In other countries, the RX-8 is offered in both a 5 speed and a 6 speed manual. i.e. the automatic in the states is available as a 5 speed in other countries. I've seen it installed and it looks amazing, but only in pictures and I don't know what is required.

so then, he'd have to find a non-us rx8 shift **** unless he wanted
1 3 5 R
2 4 6

printed on his, no? (assuming that's how it's layed out )

I honestly don't care if it's a 6spd or not, hardly anyone will notice anyway.

The 5spd's are too hard to find, and WAY too expensive.

Cody

OK, I have posted this many times before.

Here is the **** you need. Don't worry about getting ripped by an 'imported' euro 5sp ****. Here is the one you need for a great price!!!!

I have one.
Works great, and fits great, no adapter needed.

headover to 8club and post a wtb, you can get it cheaper, unless you want a brand new one.

Sweet, that **** looks so awesome. Yeah I'm talking with someone over at rx8club about buying their used 6spd.

Now the question is, what thread size is the miata short throw shift **** I'm buying?

Wouldn't it be stock miata threads? What are the stock miata threads?

Or where could I get an adapter?

Cheers,
Cody

EDIT: Another question (cause I haven't asked enough already ^___^ )

Are FDs the same thread size as s5's?

The thread pattern is Miata=S5=FD. All the same.

Also the **** I posted is a 5spd ****, so you don't look like a poseur.

I know but it's 100 bucks. I can get a 6spd for half that price.

Cheers,
Cody

He already answered your question. S4 and S5 shifters have different thread patterns.
