Well again thanks for the offer. I'm gonna try to get it back together on my own with help from here. But if I do hit a snag would it be okay to hit you up for some help.
Once I do get it back on the road, I would like to meet up sometime to see what your 7 is all about. And maybe when I get a nicer one, you guys can help me make it into a beast.

Still no parts yet. I have stuff coming from 4 different places. So they should start landing on my porch soon.

Oh yeah, I found someone with a spare charcoal canister too. I should have it by wednesday. :o)

Being I've been helping a friend move for the past 4 days, I haven't had time to prep the car for the new parts. I should be able to start on that this afternoon.

Alright, I got more parts today. So I have everything to start getting it all back together. The parts I have are:

2 large and 1 small freeze outs(small 1 being the main problem)
o-ring
shaft nut washer seal
front seal
oil pellet

Total cost of parts was about 40 bucks.

It 12:30 midnight here, and I'll be staying up all night so I can get started at the crack of dawn.
Do you guys want me to start a new post on putting everything back together, or keep posting to this one.

Ahh, just keep it going, we need to archive it or something for the next guy that goes through this

Gnome- don't forget you still have to use the large spring that came out with the original thermal pellet under the new plug...You can trash the small one, though (or keep it for a souvenir)

I was starting to get worried. I have been waiting patiently for this site to update before putting everything back together. I'm about to get out there and get started again.

While the site was updating I did get a little bit done. I cleaned the surfaces for the rtv, got the main oil seal in the front cover, and the 3 freeze outs installed........

Yeah, I move in slow motion.

Personally, I have enjoyed this thread. Its shown the power of people helping people. You came to the board looking for help. Many including myself thought you were going the wrong direction (I had not seen this problem in 100's of engines torn down, i guess anything can happen once).

With a little dilegence and asking percise questions you will save your engine "CHEAP".

Congrats!

Thanks man, I've really enjoyed getting on here and learning from you guys with experience. And I have really appreciated the help.

I have got the front cover back on. And plan to do more this evening. I'll be sure to post some pics of the progress.

I have a couple questions again.

1. These oil lines here, the screws have a small hole to allow the flow, and the coupler on the line also has a small hole, how do you know if they are lined up correctly to allow correct oil flow?

2. A small piece in this sensor, in the oil pan, that stabilizes the 'floating part' of it broke. Will it still function properly, and is this the oil level sensor?

3. I didn't mark anything as far as the crank angle sensor is concerned, so how do if it's setting in the right position? Please tell me I'm not screwed.

Well I should have the water pump and housing, radiator, fan, air intake, and belts back on tomorrow. So if all goes well, tomorrow night I may be trying to crank it over.

Wish me luck!!

:o)

Don't sweat it. The 'rings' on the end of those oils lines are grooved all the way around on the inside. It doesn't matter where the bolts (not screws) stop - oil will still flow through. Your oil cooler lines are designed the same way.

Yes, that's your level sensor. Don't worry about it too much for now, just get the rest of the stuff back together, but you will need to repair/ replace the unit soon, because with one of the "rails" broken, the mag float may not sit correctly on the targets if you do happen to have a low oil condition...

Nice oil pan RTV job, looks good so far...Need to do some "spring cleaning" with all that gunk all over the place, though...

Don't know about the MOP- took mine off years ago, it seems, and don't remember much about it now...
