seafoam in a t2?

ive been looking around in the forums for the use of seafoam engine cleaner and have found that alot of the 1st gen guys love it...ive been wondering if any1 has had any good use of it in their turbo 2nd gens?....im kinda reluctant in using it..but if it has positive effects in a turbo rotary then i might try it....

Yes you can use it but I wouldn't recommend it for regular maintenance.

I don't reccomend using any engine cleaned on a turbo car, if you wanna remove the turbo for the process then maybe, but thats alot of work. most engine cleaners say not for use on turbocharged vehicals, i guess maybe those solvents arent good for the turbo. If your gonna do it do it through a vac line that feed both rotors, i would stongly advise againts adding it to your oil

The turbo internals that get oiled are no different than engine internals. they are all metal.

Use your SEAFOAM, just don't leave it in too long, like 150 miles. I would not drive the engine into rpms over 4000 till its out..

There are non metal part in your engine which is why i suggested you lose the stuff. also turbos see much higher rpms that engines do. I'd have to advise againts listening to glhs0867 at least when it comes to seafoam, he has a thread right now asking about seafoam and is goin around giving out answers. he's run over 200 miles with seafoam in his oil.

you can put it in your oil if you wish. It will do no harm. You really don't need to though, it is good for american cars with poor oil returns. Out internals never get that bad. In the gas its fine in the intake its fine. I think the best fuel additive out there is BG 44k
I have used both as a fuel treatment and actually seen amazing results with bg 44 k. Nothing beats having the injectors cleaned professionally

Nail on the head right here.

BG 44K > Seafoam.

I've used both, only noticed more of a difference after using the BG. It dissolves the carbon, unlike the seafoam that just breaks it up into smaller pieces.

Seafom worked the best for me when I put it in my oil about 100 or so mi before I changed the oil. I was running low on oil, so I threw some in there. If you leave it in there for much longer, it will burn up leaving all the carbon back in your engine.

If you want it super clean, get a can of both, run the seafoam first in everywhere, then use the BG in your gas.

wuts bg 44k?...yea ive got new injectors and fuel filter...im not trying to clean the injectors...but mostly the engine internals...and i dont want to run it thru the manifold due to the fact of the smoke and finicky neighbors....and since my car is loud, i dont want to run it for 5 min at 2500 rpm along with smoke...lol...prob **** off the neighbors..lol...but ill take ur word for it...ill run it thru the tank.....now should i wait until 1/4 tank or so?...or should i put it in with a full tank?...

It's like seafoam, but it works a helluva lot better. You put it in your gas.

You need to use both at certain ratios of gas (it will say on the can.)

Go to a park + ride if you need a place to do it. Or a friends house.

what is the point of you using this? To clean out carbon deposits? If so just use water treatment. Works like a charm.

Directions:
what you do is take a bottle that has a total volume of 1 liter. Fill it with brita filter water or you can use the stuff they have at the store...(purified water). Run a vacuum hose to the side nipple on the UIM facing the direction of the firewall. This will clean out the rear housing.

Before doing this next step, make sure the car is completely warmed. Start the car, you may have trouble idling reason being is cause of the vacuum leak you created. Rev the Car to about 3k-4k rpm Put the hose into the bottle of water. Car should feel like it wants to die out. Dont let it or you can hydrolock (i think). Continue to rev it up and down till it guzzles the water. If you see exhaust glowing red that is normal. Rev it for about a min after it does and should idle ok afterwards.

Return the vacuum piping to normal and move the hose to the front of the UIM/Throttle body to do the front housing. Use the bottom vacuum line (should be three). Repeat the same step above.

After completed drive the car around in cruising for a bit to burn off any reminants.

Hope this helps.

Mazda just came out with a rotary engine apex seal carbon cleaner, we used it on an 8 and it worked great, you could even hear the difference when you cranked the engine. I'm going to try it in my 7 eventually.

If you put it in your gas tank...don't do too much. 1/4 of the can is plenty.
Just put it through your intake for the best result unless you have a sad turbo that likes to blow blue smoke everywhere.....lol
Really though, it's ok. I've done and I love it. Great stuff

I thought when you seafoamed ur supposed to change ur oil and spark plugs right away? (I did for my camry kinda killed it though because it was so old when I seafoamed it) as far as I know from seafoam testing never do it on a really old car haha (My camry had 160k when I seafoamed it, unless you have a fresh rebuild or something)

btw It was fed from my intake vac and I poured the rest in my gas tank (seemed like it worked pretty well on the injectors but I think it killed a few seals on the motor somewhere because the motor wasn't properly maintained for a long time, car started knocking soon after but I said **** it and threw some engine restore in there works alot better now)
