Question To Seafoam or not?

Whatsup guys, I was wondering if I should Seafoam my car or not. I have 1988 GXL that just hit 80k miles. It's in good condition, I need to change the oil in 500 or so miles and will probably do a tune up shortly after. Now, do you guys think I should Seafoam my engine or not? I've never used Seafoam before (in any of my cars) but i've heard some great results.

If anyone has done it with their FC before, where did you "inject" it into the engine?

Any other thoughts are appreciated too. Thanks!

I assume you mean the water treatment, right?

Search for 'water treatment' and you should find some instructions. It's very simple but you need to use a suitable vacuum nipple and I'm not sure which you would use for an NA model.

Thanks for the info, I found this searching the forums:
http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/ro...injection.html

Does this look like a good way? Also, i'm a little stumped on the vacuum nipple that i'll need. If anyone else has done this with an N/A, could you elaborate a bit?

What happens if the engine does die out in the midst of the water treatment? Couldn't that cause some catastrophic effects?

DO NOT USE SEAFOAM. Don't make me explain why just dont use it. You will end up doing more damage to associated engine parts than you can pay for. If you want a magic engine cleaner, dump some auto tranny fluid in the spark plug holes. Pull the EGR fuse, crank it a few times then wait a few hours. then put the plugs back in and run it for 20 minutes to get that crap out of there. Then replace the spark plugs with new ones. they will likely be fouled from the ATF. You might want to change the oil as well.

As long as you start it up promptly and drive it for a little while once you're done with the treatment it should be fine unless you water lock it, which you essentially can't do if you use the appropriate vacuum line to draw water in. If it were to die during a treatment though and you let it sit for a day or so after I imagine your chambers and possibly intake components could rust, that could be catastrophic.

As for the nipple to use for injecting whatever into the NA.

There is one on the driver side on the intake manifold. Not sure what it is connected to but it is in the middle of the manifold below the BAC. I just pulled it off and connected some hose to it and fed that hose intot he seafoam.

The seafoam worked fine for me, seemed to help a little.
