SE to TII or just buy a TII?

So im thinking of what I should do. I am willing to put in the work to do the conversion to TII on my SE, but finding the right parts is alot more difficult than I had thought.

So my choice is this, continue with the swap (meaning looking for parts for awhile) or just going with a TII and selling my SE. What should I do?

I'd just try and find a decent T2 and make it nice.

It depends what you want. Do you want a turbo 1st gen or a turbo 2nd gen? If you don't really care then just go for the T-II. If you'd rather have a 1st gen, do a swap.

Oops you're right. When I read "SE" I think GSL-SE as in 1st gen. In that case I'd go for a T-II if you can find a decent one.

i was wondering the same thing.

when i did my swap it ended up being a no brainer. i got the full driveline from the clutch to the axles from kevin at rotary ressurection, i imported an engine(had a tranny on also), got a wire harness and ecu from this forum, then just a few things from and auto parts store and i was on my way.

Which car you should get (N/A or TII), depends how much work you're willing to do... You could get an N/A with a blown motor for about $500 or less and then spend about $2500 on a good TII swap ($3000 total, but you won't have the ABS that comes with the TII) or If you don't want to do too much work (right away......) then just buy a TII (but you can expect to spend much more ~> about $5000)

THere are several nice TIIs for sale in the for sale section. Not too pricey either.

not all tII's have ABS....

Does your SE run? If it runs id sell it and buy a TII, if it doesnt run the i would go for the swap. And along with that i would go with some sort of standalone, it might be expensive but i think its well worth it. (depending on how much money you have available).

Its not really that its hard to find, its just annoying. Getting parts from this guy, then getting parts from this guy. From my Point of view on at this point it would seem a TII is what I want. Plus I want an S5 so I might as well spend my time looking for that instead of conversion parts right?

Yes it does run, and run well. Its my DD and I am doing my best to take care of it. I drive it like a sane person now and I will sell it. She's been good to me T-T. ANYWAY lol I guess I decided overnight what I plan to do. TII S5 for me. Its probably harder to find but I'm willing.

So if anyone is looking for an SE near the summer give me a message lol

Thanks for the input everyone.

good luck finding a decent condition and running s5 tII for a really good price, its a rare occasion when you get a really s5TII for under 5grand thats not tampered with in some ways. You get what you pay for. If your se is in good condition body wise, you can import a t2 motor for $1000 Cad, then get a act or exedy clutch kit, afm, boost sensor, and you can alter the s5 ecu.. you save money.. or go another route, and look for wrecked tII's then do a swap that way if you want a complete switcheroo.
