Scatter shield

I did a search and only found topics that were 2-3 years old but couldnt find what I was looking for. Does any company make a scattershield of some sort to protect from a broken flywheel at high RPM? I really like my legs the way they are.

Define high RPM. The stock setup & most aftermarket setups are fine through 8k RPM (as in, they'll hold a lot higher, but they don't need a shield for 8k).

Anything past redline really. Although they might be rated that high, you never know when something might go wrong.

you probably aren't going to find something premade for the FC. expect to have to find something custom.

Yes there are some scatter shields. You would be better off asking this sort of question in the race car sub-forum.
Here is one: http://www.gurumotorsports.com/products/scatter.htm
Another that's universal: http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...rt=RCI%2D7808A

There's another site out there that has custom semi-Periperhal port manifolds and stuff like that. I seem to recall them selling a scatter shield as well. I can't remember what they're called though....

Summmit sells scatter shields, I think they are ~$100. They aren't made FC custom though. I think they are fit for a turbo350 or somethin, it would take a little work, but it wouldn't be that hard to fit it to the fc.

GURU DOESNT MAKE A SCATTERSHIELD ANYMORE!
And it wasnt a scattershield it was a ballastic blanket.

RE: 13B Scattershield

Hi John,

Thanks for your enquiry, however, the scattershield is no longer being made
by Guru Motorsports.

Regards,

Suzie

Usually the RX7's won't attain the rpm that causes the flywheel/clutch assembly to destroy itself, but having said that, a scattershield and driveshaft hoop wouldn't hurt, especially for peace of mind.
Owner of local station lost his right leg, just below the knee, last summer when his Chevy assembly let go.

I'm installing a driveshaft hoop in my car (I've broken one before), and thinking about a scatter shield. Basically, I was going to get a half-oval of 7-8MM steel and weld it over the transmission hump, with a larger piece extending up onto the firewall. I don't think it's necessary in my case, but piece of mind is always a nice feeling to have.

I know they make blankets for that purpose that are quite effective, and likely fairly easy to adapt to the RX7 application.
