I just had to rant and rave a bit. 1st of all if your broke and need to do body work it is a good idea to borrow a sander from someone or at least a sanding block. Doing it by hand really is sucking big ****. Second dont ever buy paint mixed at napa. That is the worst i have seen. It is like red koolaid. 7 coats and i can still see primer. Ohh well beter choices next time.

 

That's what you get for keeping the turbo hood and not giving it to me! I really don't feel like going to work tomorrow, i'm in such a shitty mood lately, especially with how boring it has been because all the projects are on hold until dean gets back from vacation. I'm going to have all the parts for the car in by the end of this week, so I should be all set to slap it in over the weekend, you should bring your parents dog down here so you can help damnit!

 

Are you painting it yourself? I would be stoked if I could paint my own car. Instead I have to scrape up the $400 for a paint job/body work that isnt even that good.

 

Im trying my hand at some body work. I have no experiance with full paint jobs at all. But i have been able to do some of the smaller dings and blend it without being able to tell i painted it. I would like to try a full paint job but im not that brave to do it on my vert.

 

use the 86, anything you do to that will only make it look better!

 

I am getting my car painted in may and i was thinking of doing the body work my self. Basically i would need to do is sand and smoothout a couple dings is this hard? What is involved in the sanding process? Like what grit of paper and stuff like that , is there a certain way to sand it like in a certain direction?

Basically just sand the area to the bare metal. Make sure its a little rough. throw some filler in there. Sand that until perfectly flush with sourounding undented metal. If your not painting it or priming it thats all you need to do. I dont think there is a special direction. I have never heard of that. But i could be wrong. Like i said i am just getting into it bit by bit.

So far the minor dings have been pretty easy even though i am lacking the right tools. If i had the money I would go get some power tools but for now good ol elbow grease is the only thing i have. I probably wouldnt have started it but i was extreemly bored.
