Gauge Pod Question
Gauge Pod Question
Ok, I got my gauges. (Thanks SiyahGTU!!
) and they are both 2 1/6". Now, what size pod do I need to get? Is that the same size as 52mm? I am an English major, so that means I cannot do math!
Also, I have electric seatbelts. Will this cause any problems w/ fitting the gauges? Oh yeah, Air/Fuel Ratio, and Water Temp http://force-efi.com/cyber.htm. Both are brand new, never opened.

DAMN IT!!!! Grrrrr. Anyone else know? My driver's side belt does not work, and I never plan on having it work (don't trust power seat belts) SO guess I really don't have a problem!!! Thanks Scott!

As far as the guage pod, I heard that you can get the autometer one to fit with auto belts if you modify the pod a little.

just buy the pod and keep your reciept when you get it home measure the fit i'm thinking with the auto belts you will have to trim the pod but if your not comfortable with that then take them back. you do know though you have to drill your a pillar to run the wires and hoses. so trimming the pod should be a snap

You know i might go to the pillar mount as much as I hate that location (blocks my vision). So a 2 gauge pod does fit on the very bottom? I dont have to settle with 1, how much are they

$24.90 for the dual
Ok, went to that site Jimmy, and the one you speak of is for "86-89". This should work correct for my 91? As for all of the questions about my belts, I am getting new seats in the near future, and 4pt. Harnesses, so no real need for 2 sets of seatbelts! I am gonna rip out the old power ones when I do the swap, and install older A-pillars in there. I also tried to get Mazda dealer to fix my seatbelts, and every time I call, they put me on hold until I just hang up. When ever I go to the dealer in person, they say their RX-7 is out for the day. Lying bastards, they don't even have a RX-7 guy.....

Rico, I just put the autometer gauge pod in my 89, it doesnt fit very nicely. It took a lot of sanding/etc to get it to fit and it still doesnt sit flush. If you want I can post a picture of my frustration

Here's a picture of mine, I put it as far down as it can possibly go and my seat belts still work properly (automatics do suck!) And yes, I know my car is dirty!

I thought it was. Even though it doesn't look perfect, I love it! I'm sure you could get a heat gun and a little sand paper and make it fit perfectly. I was impatient as always and didn't bother making it look pretty. Function over form

jimmy: ouch! Currently, my transmission is sitting on my floor, however my shift **** is clear, oddly enough! Not stealth clear, but clear none the less, it glows blue when i turn my lights on, call me a ricer all you want
Once I get my engine (HOPEFULLY THIS WEEK) my shifter will be back in the correct place

SonicRaT,
Just teasin' you man....I think your pod looks really good compared to another RX-7 I saw that apparently did not do as much work as you did trying to get it perfect. His looked pretty bad, he didn't even try to match it up or anything, just threw two gauges in there and riveted it to his pillar.

Yikes, I didn't go that extreme, I hid all my wires and the hose for the boost gauge, and I used a relatively large screw to hold it to the pillar as the plastic studs they give are pretty useless. I sanded it a little bit to make it sit a little more flush, however it still isn't perfect. I'm going to remove that silver colored screw and replace it with a black one so it matches better. All in all I like it and have no complaints, it's sturdy, it doesn't move, and it works! Now if only I had some use for those gauges! Why have the rotory gods denied me an engine for so long!
