Safe to use Naval Jelly on E shaft?
Got a little surface rust on E-shaft and wonderin if I could use the Naval Jelly I got for the rust on the rotors on the E-shaft? I got an extended weekend and figured Id get the engine put together.
Ill try to post pics of the rebuild as I do it.

I wouldn't do that.
Naval jelly has a little bit of acid in it.
Acid will etch the bearing journal surfaces.
Consider the importance of tolerances of the e-shaft, that's asking for trouble.
Just use regular motor oil to prevent the rust build-up.
If you want to get more of the rust off, use a really fine grit (like 2000 - 4000) sandpaper with liberal use of regular motor oil and lightly sand knock the remaining rust off.
