Noob in the house. I've been trying to find out the best way to wrap the chain around the motor in my '87 RX-7 so that when I pull it out from the engine bay, I have the smallest amount of issue with weight distribution. I dont have access to a load leveler either!

 

na or turbo? you should invest in a haynes manual and look in the FSM.

What do you mean by "hooks" exactly? Any pics?

 

if you look by your alternator adjusting bracket there should be a metal hoop there and there is another one diagonally across on the back of the engine.
