SAFC/SAFC 2 in FC, differences?

Im going to be ordering a fuel controller soon, and I was wondering what the differences were between an SAFC and the SAFC II? DOes the 2 have more functions that are useful , or what? I was just going to order the 2, but thought Id ask before I spent money on something that may not be any better.

Also, in comes in different "faces". Black, silver , etc? Im assuming they are just different colors and everything else in the same, but thought Id ask to make sure also.

I had the 2 on my fc. It has twice as many adjustment points so you can fine tune the fuel better. Also, it has memory for two settings so you can tune for "street" and "track" or "fuel saving" or whatever. It also has the rotory **** and a few other things.

just my opinion i have used both. 2 has more fuel points and the dual maps so more functional, but that stupid *** and stick setup on the 2 sucks to use. my 2 cents

I'm going to take a different route and say if you can afford the new safc II then you spend an extra 100 dollars and get the e-manage with the ignition and injector harness. Order it from http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/ - awesome customer support, and the best prices.

With just the support tool and the e-manage you'll have an airflow adjustment map like the safc, but it will be on a 16 x 16 map. So you can use the pressure sensor instead of the TPS, similar to the safc hack, but with the e-manage you'll have 16 different spots on the pressure sensor, and 16 different rpms.

that will be like 400 ? if you got $700 you'll get a standalone ...
it never ends

i think SAFC is good enough for most of us ...

Im not all that familiar with the E-manage. What all can it do? Is it just a fuel controller like the SAFC? Do I need a laptop to program it?

It can manipulate the afm signal like the safc, except instead of a high and low map, with 8 or 16 adjustable points, (effectively 2 x 16), you get a 16 x 16 map.

It can also directly add pulsewidth to the injectors. This gives you the ability to run your injectors as hard as you want, regardless of ecu duty cycle limit because the ecu has no control over this, the added duty cycle is being controlled by the e-manage.

You also have the option of the ignition harness to control timing. This is useful for those surpassing fuel cut. Again, like all of the maps this is 16 x 16.

If you surpass the voltage of the afm, you can use the greddy pressure sensor and the axis for your maps become boost pressure vs rpm. It's a very powerful piggy back. Many other car owners use it, but for some reason it seems to be blacklisted or unknown to the FC community.

Yes you'll need a laptop unless you have the e-01, which is capable of tuning the e-manage alone.

I'll second and third the remarks above. I have both models and dispite the above ....the II is still better. Though the **** and toggle SUCK.

Another thing I HATE about both models. It's the shine and glitter BS. The glare off the face makes the units hard to read at an angle in the day time. Shiney chrome facia sucks.

A good feature of the II is that it will also show the battery voltage. That's good for a TurboII that has no volt gauge.

Yeah! That damn glare off the face of the units pisses me off. I chunk it behind the seat when not in use (long cord is GOOD).

NOTE: Gotta buy some flat black paint in the near future.

The instructions on the II are some what better. Naaah. The instruction books on both are screwed up. They NEED to get some outside help on the instruction book. Farm it out to the Koreans or the Indians.

I think Im going to go with the SAFC II. Ive been reading up on the E-manage, and it sounds pretty cool, but honestly a bit much for me. If I was going to go into that much detail, Id just go standalone.

Not to butt in, but, go to EBAY and in the search type in SAFC. There are a number of dealers there sellling new ones considerably cheaper than some shops, such as RP in Irving. I bought my first one from RP then the second one from a site on EBAY (much cheaper).

I took the SAFCII off my car to install the emanage. I have the ignition harness on it too. I do have to use a laptop to tune it but it is a million times better than the safcII and you can get one for $300. It can also control an extra set of injectors too.

are SAFC's adaptable to any car? what kind of modification do they need to wire in?
i kinda like the looks of the SAFC 1 b/c it looks like itll blend with my car better... do i really need twice as many fuel points to realize decent gains?
do the fuel points adjust like flat like steps, or does it blend as it moves from one area to another?

im very curious as to whether i need an safc or safc 2..
