Safc I arrow button issues

view this video, its hard to explain.
Every time i click down to select something the safc clicks back up.
I checked the button by opening the case and is works mechanically fine.
I rechecked an checked my wiring. i followed both http://www.1300cc.com/howto/how2/safc.htm , and the wiring diagram in the manual.

It makes it impossible to adjust any settings, because as soon as you manage to get it to one it automatically increases the setting,.

IS this a known problem or is there a problem with my safc?

car is a 1988 GXL NA cpu 327

Thanks

Any thoughts?

explain how. arghx have you seen this issue before?
i can force my way into the menus by clicking down and immediately clicking into settings. everything works if i could get into the right screens.
it just keeps forcing the selection key up. i would guess that if it was a bad part it wouldn't work at all.

also when i first got it hooked up in the car and tried to adjust but couldn't, i just tried to start the car and it started up fine. i didn't drive it though.

Is there anyway to do a hard reboot? like resetting the cmos on a pc? taking out a battery ect?

What's wrong with those instructions?

I'd say the unit you have is kaput.

Now I've a nice SAFCII I'd let you have for under $100 bucks. Works last time I looked and I'd reinstall it on my car to prove it works prior to sending it.

no, and that's the whole point. It's not a common problem and is probably indicative of a crapped out keypad. The SAFC 1's are pretty old now. I had one back in 2004 and they had already stopped making them at that point.
