SAFC gains

posted in the safc section and got nothing so heres the next best place i guess.

I'm just wondering what kind of power and gas mileage have people been able to squeeze out of their n/a's running one?

Can't answer your question directly, but I can tell you whats on most peoples minds about gas mileage and the rx7 =)

I myself have been able to save some mileage with my turbo and the safc.

I would go with the RTEK 2.0 instead. Chris Ludwig (ludwig motorsports?) got a 20whp gain out of the RTEK on a STOCK vert (115 to 135) with just tuning fuel. I think Roen gets over 24mpg with his RTEK. It starts out with the stock maps so its easy to tune unlike the true standalones that start from scratch. I would get the RTEK 2.0, learn to tune the NA engine (which is more lenient to errors than a turbo) and then go with a 6 port turbo later on if you need more. That way you'll have good knowledge on tuning an EMS when the time comes, pick up a book on tuning EMS's too.

i did consider the RTEK however last i knew they didnt do s4 n/a's which i happen to have. but 20 hp out of tuning sounds pretty good, im surprised that theres that much more to be squeeze out

The rtek is available for the S4. Contact pocketlogger.com for more info.

Thats just with tuning fuel, you still have timing, auxiliary port activation, and secondary injectors activation, etc.

I get 24 with the AFC Neo, 22 with the Rtek, but the Rtek is run on the GTUs which gets lower gas mileage than other NA's.

Power is probably good for about 10 horses at the wheels, at most. I set the AFC at 13:1 AFR's at WOT.

Timing tuning, which is not available on the SAFC's, is absolutely necessary to bring out the most from your motor.

I've been getting 22-23mpg on my 87 with S-AFC.

dont have any experience with Rtek but this is my second experience with an S-AFC and the device is super simple to use. Just prepare to spend some money dynotuning or tuning with a wideband. Otherwise, you're just guessing and guessing isnt gonna cut it.
