S5 Vert Dash into S5 Coupe. Difference?

Hey guys!

im looking to replace the dash in my S5 Coupe. I won’t be swapping any electronics, just the bare dash

I found a S5 Vert Dash for a decent price. Is there any differences between the Vert and coupe dash?

I know the surrounds for gauge cluster are different for sure. thanks

Well, Mazda lists two different p/n's for 89-90 dashboards both with and w/o airbags. According to an earlier tread on this board (https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...coupe-1007082/), they are apparently the same. So, draw your own conclusion here.

the non airbag vert dash is the same as the coupe. the air bag cars have the bottom of the dash cut off, and then there is a new panel that goes over it. it will still fit, but its not the same

The Vert Dash does fit in the Coupe. I did this swap a few years back. The only difference is beneath the steering column. The vert uses a big piece as appose to the coupe which has a cut down the middle to allow you to tilt the column up and down. With the vert cover you can just cut with a Dremel for clearance. If you are retaining the autoseat belts there is a box/mechanism behind the glove box that is meant for the passenger belt. I just zip tied it. No issues.

I forgot to mention you will need to use your couple cluster surround since the coupe turn signal sits on it unlike the vert. You will also reuse the coupe steering column surround.

i think thats a difference of airbag or not, my old non airbag vert had regular turn signal, i didnt get the mx-03 style til i got a airbag car... that happens to be a vert.
