S5 TurboII 13.75 @ 104 - how?

I took the TurboII to Lapeer dragway today (about 65 degrees outside by the way), and ran quite a few times.. ran a few sub-14 times, best was 13.7 @ 104. I was shocked that I ran that fast.. I was hoping to run like 13.99 or something (previous best was 14.1 @ 100, before I put on the cone filter).

Basically all I've got is a custom turbo-back single exhaust straight through to a crappy "silencer" (can't even call it a muffler". And also a cone filter (no cold air box).

Also I should note, the DSV is acting up, so it runs to about 6 lbs and stays there.

SO.. basically I ran 13.7 @ 104 on 6 lbs boost. That's not too bad.

Oh, and I've pulled out some miscellaneous weight stuff (nothing that should get me THAT low though..)

I've pulled:
Spare tire
Sound "carpeting" from back
Rear trunk separator thing (that piece that makes it as if you have a real "trunk")
Stock exhaust (pretty heavy) to the custom single exhaust (not AS heavy).

All that though, I'm really curious now as to what I'm putting to the ground.

Oh and Jim (Raptor13x) ran like 15.8 in his '85 12A with no performance mods (except his exhaust is custom (CRAPPY) from the thermal reactor type thingey back to a pretty quiet muffler).

hm.. I need to gank off the air pump and I'd love to ditch the stock power steering rack, and put in an electric one or something..

With 104 traps you could probably get below 13.5 with a hard launch.

congrats..

that homebrewed turbo-back exhaust is prob. most of it. Probably added a good 50HP if not more

I would reccomend getting an SAFC and/or injectors

Very impressive times man!

yeah but it's only running 6 lbs boost.. that SHOULDN'T cause +50hp over stock.. something is WAY goofy in this car I think.. I'm gonna take it to the dyno I think, and also weigh it.

Well, isn't the engine in your car a J-Spec? Perhaps it's ported out or has some tricks done to the inside.

vosko,

I remember an old thread when you had the tII and you pulled a sub 2.0 60' time on one run. What tires were you on? I remember it was a street tire of some sort...

That's what I was wondering, if it could be that.. it sounds really cool at idle (with the crappy exhaust).. although a little loud for my tastes..

It's kidna like badadum badadum badadum..

Specs:
- White 1990 TurboII
- S5 J-spec engine imported from a guy in Canada ($1100 for engine and tranny SHIPPED.. good deal)
- Lightened, I'd guess maybe 100 lbs from stock, due to removal of stock exhaust (heavy) and put on the single turbo-back.
- Removed A/C & all stuff associated with it
- Removed sound deadening foam (not the hard stuff ON the metal, but the foam) from rear.
- Removed rear windshield wiper sprayer (wiper goes soon, doesn't work)
- Cone Filter
- That aformentioned ghetto 2.5" exhaust
- As far as I know it's a stock clutch, and I know it's stock flywheel
- Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's 225/50/R16 all around
- That's really about it.. I don't think the TB mod has been done or anything.. and like I said it runs to 6 lbs and really doesn't creep over that (the DSV is acting up, that's why it doesn't go to 8.. wonder what I'd run then if I had a MBC and it went up to 8 right away ) And it also bleeds off as I approach redline, going down to about 3 psi (I think) or so near redline.
New fuel filter & spark plugs, I dunno.. and Mobil 1 oil filter, heck I dunno.. and about a half a tank of gas.. 65 degree day.
By the way, the 60' times on those two 13.7 runs were like 2.091 and 2.065. This track has a real sticky starting line. A stock Z28 (stick I believe) ran like 13.5 there.
