S5 turbo TPS modified to work with N/A TPS bracket?

I know I have another thread going already, but this is a different question altogether.

I am seeing turbo model TPS's all over the place and it seems that other than the color, the harness is the same. I have also noticed the plungers seem to be the same, but mounted to a different bracket.

Is it possible to take the turbo TPS plungers off of the turbo TPS bracket and affix them to my NA TPS bracket?

I searched and found nothing. Judging by the look of my TPS compared to the turbo TPS, it should be fairly simple, but I want some concrete info before I go off spending money on a turbo TPS.

Good. I was just wondering.

I need a new one BAD, thus why i posted the thread asking how my car could possibly still run with such a bad full range TPS.

The turbo rx7 tps assemblies are so much cheaper it seems. I guess that is the route I'll head toward.

Maybe someone can answer this for me. How hard is it to do? It seems the plungers just clip onto the assembly bracket. Is this true or is it pretty involved?

bend four prongs per unit. remove and rewind.

what symptoms is your tps doing, check engine light and/or bouncing idle? I just went through three today. it is very annoying.

^^ The man tells the truth. The prongs you see bent around the box of the plunger bend those and you'll see how to take them off. Just make sure you adjust your tps when installing it.

That is exactly what I thought by looking at it, I just wanted to be sure.

My narrow range is set with the light method and I haven't had any bouncy idle issues, but the car has been running a bit too rich. I Checked the codes yesterday and while I had no MIL indicator, there was 12 and 18 codes stored.

I found a very high resistance spot at the very end of the narrow ranges plunger travel, and the full range is all over the place. The full range goes from normal, to 10k to 33k then back down again to normal, but happens over half of the plunger travel. It's amazing the car even drives.

Thanks guys, I found a working and tested turbo one for $60 so that should save me about $200.

Just an update...

I bought this part off of eBay, and the seller is phenomenal at correspondence. He actually takes the time to personally write you instead of sending scripted nonsense, plus he knew the testing method for the TPS with a VOM. He has other RX7 parts too, so I would assume he knows a bit. Good seller overall from I can see and good price to. $60 for a turbo TPS isn't bad at all, and tested at that. Hell, rotary ressurection has a TPS for not much cheaper that is covered in spray paint and is untested.

He is shipping the part tommorow and once I get it, I'll test it myself and I'll post him up for recommendation for the rest of you. So far though, he seems to be an upstanding guy.

Just found this thread.

My TPS is bad, did the test myself, Narrow range failed with 1.95 @ idle(should be < 1.2), Full Range works fine.

So yeah I will replace it.

New one from Mazda, even from MMS, cost 330+ bux thats just highway robbery. and I dont really want used ones (Cuz I dont want to deal with a deal one every year or so)

Just wonder did you ever get to finish this "swapping" project? Im about to get a Turbo one and mod it.

Yes I did actually.

I didn't even remove the TPS bracket or throttle body. I just uncliped the old plungers and put the new ones on there. To do this, you'll need a long 90* angle automotive pick and a pair of long nose, long handle (I mean LONG) handle pliers.

Anyway, solved a bunch of problems and fuel to boot.

I got it from a really good eBay seller for $60, tested and working. Nice fellow. His seller name was autoparts.123

I hope I didn't break a forum rule by refering the seller, but damn he was courteous. If you can, send him a message and see if he has another one. Last time we emailed each other, he had another one.

I did the same thing. Swapped the sensors to the s5 tii tps bracket from the n/a by bending the prongs.

I wonder if i can take the sensor apart clean it and reassemble it. When i first got this s5 the tps had dead spots on the narrow.

All s5 tps are the same, if you want to save money from the marketplace, get n/a tps lol
