S5 TII Vert low fuel thermistor/light

Hi everyone

My 7' S5 TII low fuel light stopped working.

But.......i explain the situation: in winter time as present i rest the car in my box without driving it. Once a month i start up the car for 60/70min till the fuel tank is empty then the next time i add more fuel.....3 liters at once and i warm up the car again every month. The car so runs with the low level fuel light often always on. I noticed that in the last 2 weeks the low fuel light lights no more. But here the temperature is cold (5 celsius).

I'm asking: is it possibile that the low fuel thermistor/bulb burnt because always on use? And also: is it possibile that because low external temp it doesn't engage?

The light on the idiot clusters lights works: when i turn on the key before engine ignition the low fuel light lights on!

Thank you.

Sounds like you need one of these: https://www.atkinsrotary.com/store/E...02-60-960.html

The low fuel level sensor is the small cylinder shaped device at the bottom of the rod. From my personal experience, they rarely go bad. In the 32 years that I've owned my S5, I've only once had to replace my low fuel level sensor.

Ok they rarely go bad but on yours burnt just one time so on mine.....it's enough for a 30 years car. Just one time after many years even if the car is barely used prove that the oem part is unreliable.

I read here
https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...-light-707816/

"In my experience, the easy fix for the low fuel level sensor is to spray contact cleaner in the small holes on the sensor it self. A few sprays is all it takes and it is fixed. This has worked on 3 RX-7s for me so far."

I will first try spraying inside the thermistor capsule with contact cleaner before unsoldering and soldering the new capsule.

Anyone with other positive feedbacks about renewing the low level fuel sensor with contact cleaner?

Thank you

Perhaps your sensor is load of fuel varnish that's because it doesn't work at all!

Have you tried the "contact cleaner trick" before?

It's certainly worth a try. You might want try cleaning the electrical connector at top of tank too! Good luck!

CONTACT CLEANER DID THE TRICK!!!! IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM......I "SEE THE LIGHT".....low fuel light! Before desoldering and soldering the low level fuel sensor try the contact cleaner easy fix! Spray both inside the sensor through the small holes and on pump assembly contacts! I'm so happy!!!
