S5 TII swap with NA harness

No, it's not. S4 TIIs have the alternator plug on the engine harness, and S4 NAs have the plug on the emissions harness. If you use a TII EM harness on an NA, you get to run new wires for the alternator. One goes to the dash/warning lights, and the other is power to the voltage regulator.

S5s look to have the plug on the engine harness for both cars. The wiring diagram is a little vague however, and just shows "AT" and "MT" cars rather than "TII" and "NA".

But the real questions is why are you using a TII emissions harness at all? It's far easier to keep the NA harness. Click my sig.

using a TII harness because my na harness is from an 88 and setup for high impedance injectors and I have low imp injectors so im using a 87 s4 TII harness ... im not worried about the knock sensor so thats not a big deal ... so I only need to worry about the alt and temp gauge is what I got from rotaryresurrection.com

Huh? The knock sensor/box are plug and play if you use a TII EM harness. What's not plug and play is EM -> Front harness connector, which will require all sorts of re-pinning. Adapting high impedance plugs for low impedance injectors is easy. I just enlarged the slot in the plastic with a razor knife. '88 NA harness with all low impedance injectors on my car.

please forgive my retardation today but when you say to Just plug in the 6pi plug to the turbo duty solenoid do you mean to cut off brown plug that goes to the 6pi and splice in the blue plug that came with your TII engine for the turbo duty solenoid. my 6pi from N/A engine and turbo Duty solenoid from turbo engine plugs do not appear to be the same. wire colors however are the same. i just want to be absolutely sure before i start hacking up my n/a harness

Correct you need the blue plug off of a T2 harness, at least I did on the 2 T2 swaps I've done using the NA harness.
For my second swap though the T2 didn't come with a wiring harness and finding that blue plug was actually kinda a pain in the ***. Does anyone know of a source for that blue plug short of finding a T2 harness to cut it off of?

Yeah, the turbo duty solenoid & plug are apparently a little different from the other solenoids/plugs. Swap the plugs, or just use spade connectors. If the solenoid functions the same as the 6PI version, you might also be able to just switch solenoids and leave the plug alone. It's been a long time since I took a look at a turbo duty solenoid, so this may not be possible.

ok.. good. that makes a bit more sense. Got the turbo duty solenoid spliced in. and the knock sensor spiced to the yellow/black wire from the VDI plug with the other wire capped off to prevent shorts. (correct me if i'm wrong). i also ran the harness about the same route as it would be on the N/a motor and it didnt seem that the tps needed to be extended. in fact it had about 3 inches extra. the only thing that i can see that needs to be extended is the plug to the Cold start thing on the side of the upper intake mani.

I didn't try since I was able to find the duty solenoid plug, but the BAC valve plug looks similar just with the "key" in a different spot, so it may be possible to do some trimming with a razor and make that work.

coryvodder1 - yeah depending on how you route the wiring harness you might not need to extend the TPS wiring. I did mainly because I wanted to keep the harness and plugs low to the engine as I could. It also seemed to fit better, more factory, that way, but your resuilts may vary

I know this thread is old but I didn't wanna start a new thread. I'm working on my harness (finally) but I can't find the S5 wiring diagram anywhere.

I get all my FSM info from here but this doesn't have the S5 Wiring Diagrams. Can any show me where to get them from? I searched and maybe I'm just missing it but I can't find them.

Just being a Bitch, but..................the alt plug is on the EM (emissions) harness on a non turbo and is on the E or engine harness on a TurboII car. Series four.

See jpgs out of the online wiring diagrams. E stands for engine and EM stands for emissions.

Just having fun.

On a Turbo the alt wires in the Engine harness connect to the Front harness on the left side of the engine.

On a non turbo the alt wires are in the EM harness and they connect to the Front harness inside the car in the passengers foot well........up and to the right of the feet.......in a orange colored connector.
