S5 thermostat cover..

I am here with two Rx-7s in pretty decent condition and I am unable to drive either of them. My AE awaiting new shoes and tires (already have them, getting tires mounted this week etc.). The daily driver, 91 coupe. About 4 weeks ago, my radiator busted a seam. Bought a new one that following week and had it on mid-week. Then luck have it the S5 thermostat cover busted a tiny spray of coolant. That week I set her to rest relying on rides from other people to school and work. The week follow this one (3rd week) I buy a used one with the little money I have and open up the the box just today and immeadiately inspect it over. Supposedly this was a "nearly perfect condition" piece of plastic. Well my eyes came across a crack right down the middle of it. I said, "that doesn't look good at all.." but I tried it only anyways to give it a shot. 30 Seconds into startup sure enough it leaking worse than the one that was originally on my car! I just found this out today, I don't want to jump any conclusions about the seller (he is on this board..) until he gets back to me. Holding composure I could only truly be mad at the creators of this device seeming how vital it is and say, "WHY $%*$ing PLASTIC!?!?"

My question for everyone: Does anyone make S5 thermostat covers out of aluminum, or anything better than plastic??

That would only work if I still wanted it to leak.

Thermo neck

I was looking for one a while back. Higgi & RETed were looking to make them out of aluminium...but the project didn't gather enough serious interest. I "modified" an S4 unit at a machine shop to fit my S5 engine. Works fine.
Thought i'd share this sweet rare pic of an Aluminium one off the "other" forum. Props to 87GTR for the find!

65$ for a part that is plastic doesn't seem reasonable to me. But I am a broke *** so what can I say.
