S5 taillights, who can make them?
S5 taillights, who can make them?
alright, isn't there enough demand for these damn things that somebody can make some of start checking scrap yards for some and try to see if they can be like people do to the 3rd gen lights? send them off to somebody and they come back looking like the 99 spec???? are these thing really worth the hundreds of dollars they go for? well obviously to whoever the buyer is they do but really? is there anybody out there thats tried to do something to this affect by taking a set of S4 lights and working some kind of magic with them? i think a group buy could be started in a heartbeat and draw some serious cash for whoever could do this.
I am sure the problem that would be facing that is that most FC owners tend to be cheap.
I have made several parts, out of CF and aluminum, or I have offered re-built switchs and CPUs, but most people don't want to pay for what it even costs just to make or repair, well alone to make it an money making proposal.
For example I was offering re-built CPUs and Wiper switchs for $60. My cost was typically $20-$30 for just the cores, and another $15 for parts, and $10 or so for shipping (between getting the core, and parts). That's before my labor to rebuild it. So for a wiper switch that just to rebuild cost me $50, I was only making $10 for my labor.
At $10 a unit for my only profit being on my labor, what's the point???
Looking at your lights suggesting an remodeled light... the average S5 light pair is going for $150-$250 depending on condition and model... add on top of that shipping and cost top recover the lights, it could easy pump them up to $300-$400. How many people are willing to pay $400 for a lights for a $3000 (average FC price) car.

that is a good point icemark. i totally would not pay more than 200 dollars for a pair of tail lights. but it is also a good question about why no one has tried to make they own tail lights for our cars for around 200-250 bucks? hell, even take the poop-s4 lights and redo them or something?

hello.
i thought about many different styles over and over and tried customizing s4 tail lights. but i think it is impossible to make s5 style tail lights with decent price from s4 tail lights. i will not say it is impossible.....just it'll cost you big bucks.

The difference with the 3rd gen light conversion is the '99 FD lights are just the earlier lights with circles - that's how Mazda does it. The later FC lights are TOTALLY different in design from the earlier lights - no way to mod it.
They have been showing up for fairly reasonable prices on Ebay. You just have to be resourceful and keep your eyes out. I scored a PERFECT set once for $100 from a guy with a rolled '91 coupe. They're on my daily driver right now

what are the prices differences in the s4 lights and the s5 ones because some body backed in to my car and wanted to see witch one cost more and right now i have a s5 one on but my car is a s4
My S5 lights were 200 for the set...then another 170 (used of course) when some woman tapped my car and trashed the passenger side light. I charged her mazda's new price of about 330 per light...

i went to the body shop to see how much will it cost to fix my car and they said about $1600 and the light cost about $400 then the work. It is just messed a little of the side by the light and i might just tell him to give me the money and put my s4 lights back on and keep the money
