Question S5 NA Engine Swap Q's

Okay guys I am debating getting an 88' Rx7 SE shell for $50(Yes I said $50). From what I saw everything seems pretty straight, and well I have a great motor in my 89' GTU and want to get this new chassis and swap the motor in there. Now I searched and I'm here to get some confirmation. I will be swapping the ECU from my S5 into the S4 so I dont need to worry about any wiring correct? The other thing is I may end up needing to use the S5 turn signal, headlight, and wiper switches. I know these might need modifications. What kind of mods will I have to do? I will also be using my S5 tranny and the lsd I have in my car. I pretty much have all the goods on my car but the front end is tweaked and I need a straight frame. For $50 I can't beat this deal.

"The Goods" on my car:
Reman motor with 6k miles
Turbo 2 steering rack with spacers for mas angle!
GXL LSD
4 pot calipers and rear vented brakes
The nice S5 interior and exterior goodies.

Thanks Alex

why do you want to swap it?

use s4 electricals
if you want to run the s5 ecu, u need to take out the s4 harness and replace with s5

so yueah, use s4 electricals,

I'd rather use my electricals cause they're newer and I'm completely stripping this body down to nothing and back again. So, I figure all I'd have to do is swap the motor, harness, and ecu in there. The wiring is pretty simple to me at least, I've done a swap before but just S5 to S5...not S5 to S4. When I searched I only found S5 turbos to S4 na. On rotary ressurection he talked about stripping the S5 block down. Well, I dont want to do that that's why I ask. Since I have the ECU and harness for my car I'm just gonna put them in this car.

Thanks

I'm doing the same but I am going to swap the chassis harness as well. It might be a little more time consuming but will be simpler in the end. You won't have any hacked or spliced wiring harness's. If you are doing a complete interior swap, including the dash, it won't take much more work to go ahead and yank the harness out.

To go cross-series, you need to swap ALL the harnesses if you plan to use the S5 electronics.

Yea see I figured it'b be best to take the harnesses from my car and install them onto this car. I'm basically going to make it a bare bones shell ready to go. So, it wont matter about S4 or S5. So, I'll need the harness that's hidden behind the dash correct? Along with the driver and passenger engine wiring harnesses, right?

Well yea I basically have all the wires I'm my car now so I'll just tranfer them over. For $50 I can't beat a price like that. Once I go check it out I'm gonna make sure the body is nice. I'll probly start a thread on it as my $50 drift project. It'll be nice to start with a fresh chassis and fix it up.

gain? Are you talking about in terms of power, or just a personal gain? What I plan on doing with this car is making it a good street/track race car. Right now I've used mine as a daily driver and racer for the past year or so and it's been beat on too much. A lot cause of when I was jus starting out and I used to mess up a lot, but now I have good control of the car.

The only reason I'm getting an S4 shell is because it's so damn cheap. I'm gonna strip it down build it back, probly put in a cage, take out all the lil things I don't need. It will be nice to have a fresh shell to do what I want. Does that answer your statement.
