Exclamation S5 N/A to Turbo Swap - Are the Harnesses the same?

Okay I just bought a really clean S5 shell for a smoking deal and I want to swap in a S5 Turbo II J-Spec. I know I have to change the entire driveline (Trans. Halfshafts, Driveshaft, Rear-diff) but I heard the N/A engine harness is the same as the TII on the S5's. I know for a fact their different on the S4's but even Kevin Landers from Rotary Res. has noted they are the same aside from a couple of new wires. Could somebody whos done this maybe confirm??

Thanks

Not in the slightest. You need a s5 turbo harness, or read up on modifying the NA harness to suit your needs.

It'll work just, you just have to run a wire for the knock sensor, search for modifying the harness, you'll find some info from a ways back about it.

Hey guys....I brought this back from the dead because I have an opportunity to buy an 88 vert for under 1K.......If I use my ECU do I have to change/modify the electrical/body harness to fit into the S5 ECU? I have my S% turbo engine with the harness and stuff but I'm unsure of the other harness.

you dont know what you're talking about.

the s5 NA and TII harness are nearly the exact same. there are the obvious differences like the wires ran for VDI, 6pi... and on the TII harness there is the knock sensor, boost control solenoid, etc.

i have a s5 NA wiring harness in my TII swap right now. the only thing you have to do is use the VDI wire as the knock sensor wire. i didnt use the boost control solenoid cause i had a boost controller. there are some other slight differences, but the ECU plugs are the same and nearly every harness plug is the same.

cliff notes: the main differences in the harnesses are with the solenoids, where the NA has VDI and 6pi the TII has the knock sensor and boost control solenoid.

it is a bitch to put a S5 engine into an S4 car, but kevin landers has a writeup of how to do it and vice versa. check out www.rotaryresurrection.com and look in the "tech" section here he has his technical writeups.

(basically you shoulda gotten the engine and harness to match the series of car its going in )
