I found a cheep s5 n/a motor, the guy is doing a v8 swap. He said it ran well, but who knows. If the internals are in good shape is there any money in selling parts.

not really for an n/a. most of the time the n/a's are sold as a whole. the TII motors are worth a little more because they can take a beating.

Or the Sexy awesome people that want them to build a REAL TURBO ENGINE. you know the kind with 2 compressors/turbines, and 18psi at 1500 rpm.

high compression turbo engine is a waste of perfectly good 9.7 rotors!

18psi@1500rpms, and 40psi of backpressure@4500! buy a real turbo!

a real man buys 8.5 rotors and machines out the combustion recess http://xtremerotaries.com/cc-combustion-chambers.php

If the rotors are good, I'd get it for $200. You could sell the rotors and get valuable experience of tearing down a motor (you mentioned in one of your posts that you wanted to). The rotors are worth a good amount, and other hard parts such as the e-shaft, stationary gears, etc shouldn't be too hard to sell.

do not trust the "oh he said the engine was good"

only way to know for sure is "tear it down, and check them piece by piece"

I'd say grab it looking at a loss, and then that way, anything you get for any parts, is a bonus

What he said. A buddy of mine and I did pretty much the same thing a few months ago, except it was 3 engines for $50/per. When it was all said and done we had the parts to build 1.5 solid engines. I'm still looking to unload a good set if s5 irons.

n/a motors can't take a beating...I find that surprising, don't most n/a have no problem running 160K miles and more?

I thought the same thing.
NAs are (arguably) slow and boring but seem to be the most reliable of the rotary variants.

One might argue that n/a reliability is more a function of use (or lack thereof) than of design or composition...
