Question s5 n/a bogs and backfires at 6k rpm

Yeah i think its a fuel problem. When i open it up and anything at 6k or over its like hitting a wall and it backfires alot. I have searched but i didn't come up with anything really.

Any ideas?

I dunno about the backfires, but SpeedOfLife was trying to nail down a similar "wall hitting" problem earlier at similar RPMs and it ended up being his TPS. Check out that thread and see if you are having similar problems.

might check your 5th and 6th port actuators, because mine got suck and it wouldn't rev and was back fireing and then it ended up blowning my motor

pull them off and if they move freely them it sould be ok because the one that i pulled off i had to get a pair of vise grips on the shaft to move it, just be carefull on how many rpm you put up to(if your still driveing it) i wounldn't put it up past

BS. you can't blow an engine from stuck 6pi.

Modified you probably have a vacuum leak or knocked a plug loose when you took it apart.

+1

Didn't even bother to read that link either did you?
5 / 6th actuators not opening WILL NOT stop you from redlining..... I know cuz mine don't work and I redline at least once a day

I am having a similar issue, I free'd up my actuators a few days ago and lube'd them and the problem went away. The car sat for 3 days, I drove it once keeping it under 4k (saving gas) and today it happened again. Either thats not the problem or the actuators didn't operate for too long after they were initially freed. I'll keep you updated with my situation but check the 5th and 6th port actuators for sure. Look in the FSM and I'm sure you'll see a pic of them.

once again..... 5th and 6th ports not opening will not prevent you from redlining.

Yeah you're right that wasn't the problem. Glad I fixed them anyway though the car pulls noticeably harder now.

I figured out my problem the other day, the plastic nipple for the cruise control unit had broken causing a vacuum leak. Super glue'd the nipple back on and haven't gotten any hesitation since, idle improved a lot also.
