s5 intakes

well after finding my broken s5 LIM, I decided I am going to try fitting the s5 upper on the s4 lower. I painted them while they are off, probly should have waited since i have to grind and drill the upper but i am pretty happy with how it turned out. what do you think?

I used mettalic wheel paint on the plenum and fuel rail and black satin on the upper. the wheel paint looks awsome in person, nice and glossy with little metal sparkle type stuff in it.

now to get it to fit on the s4 lower, the only part i have to drill is for the bolt thats closest to the firewall correct? and grind a little on the runner to get clearance for the nut? what is the easiest way to figure out exactly where to drill? just set it on the lower and try to mark it underneath? any help is appretiated, dont want to junk it from drilling a little too far one way or the other

yeah you need to drill the middle section where it meets the manifold.

Then you modify the middle section to take a nut:

Then get a S4 gasket and draw onto the bottom of the S5 mid section, what you need to file or dremel open the S5 holes to match the gasket.

i used a filler primer to smooth out the rough casting a little. then wheel paint on plenum and fuel rail, black satin on uim (looks bad in picture).
am i going to need to be fairly carefull on how much metal to grind away on clear the nut? especially after port matching to the s4 lower?
and do you think this is a better setup than running all s5 intakes?

k thanks, whats your opinion on taking out aux. port sleeves? as long as i have the vdi operational i think i will still have at least a little bit of low end power. and as hard as i try i cant get the damn s4 actuators to seal enough to hold 5 psi to open them.

you will definately lose your low end torque, it'll feel like a slug till you hit 3500-4000 rpm. but at least you'll have top end pull

I see no point in removing or disabling the sleeves unless major (not just a street port) porting has been done.

With the aux ports disabled from working properlly there is only a loss of lowend torque and power, something that a rotary engine is already weak on.
