Cool S5 Hybrid Specs

These are the specs on my new S5 hybrid turbo from Turbonetics.

Big T4 Stg lll
Trim 62-1 Stg lll
Big shaft
4" inlet housing
BB center billet jet nut.
Clip a exhaust trim.
New seal

The only thing that was used from the stock turbo was the exhaust housing. They claim this will fit on a stock manifold and NOT hit the lower intake manifold. Does anyone have a 62-1 hybrid on their FC? I will be running this turbo with S5 manifolds & IC, ported S4 TB, K&N cone, RB full 3" exhaust, 680 secondaries, and LT8 standalone. They did not mention porting the WG, which I am kinda worrying about.

Any and all comments welcome.

Holy ****! Nice how much was the clip on the hot side?

How much did turbonetics charge you for that?

How much boost do you plan on running?

Well, first off, my friend owed me for tuning his LT8 in his T78 FD, so he hooked me up BIG TIME. I'm not sure what he paid, but I know I didn't pay NEARLY what this thing is worth. I'm guessing the clip is 15 degrees(isn't that pretty standard??), but he really didn't say. I told my friend I wanted something that would push me into the 12's and he said, no problem. He goes away for a while and sends me these specs the other day, saying he will be home with the turbo on Monday, the 25th. I plan on running 1 bar until I can get my W2A IC figured out and plumbed in.

Cool! I wish I had hook ups like that
:-/

So you think that at 1BAR you will have enough fuel? I was under the impression you would need a little more than 680's. Or is this due to the Microtech?

Damn, that's a huge cold side compared to a now relatively small hot side. The turbine is going to turn into a pretty big restriction. rxtasy put down 321 rwhp on a 60-1 hybrid with an e6k. You're going to want bigger secondaries, or another pair of 680's if you're shooting for over 300 rwhp.

Stock top mount is ok for a stock turbo at near stock boost levels, but look for a front mount especially on the hybrid. Intake temps are gonna shoot up pretty fast.

are you using the stock turbine wheel, clipped? or are you using a p-trim?

i am not sure if that will fit without a spacer. if it does i want pictures, heh.

I am worried about the fitment as well. They say it'll fit, but we'll see.

I'm looking at getting 4 780's for my fuel and my walbro is going in as well....and the W2A IC is my choice of lowering my intake temps. I don't want a huge FMIC in front of my radiator so ppl can see, I like having a stock looking car.

I have no idea what exhaust turbine was used. They mentioned nothing about which wheel, just that it's clipped.

water to air intercooler. Uses water to remove the heat from the intake charge instead of air.

You don't have any idea what turbine wheel is used? measure it for us. what's the diameter of it?

and is your wastegate ported? 'cause it sure as hell better be.

For the most part when people talk hybrid, the stock exhuast side is used, in your case the wheel is clipped. There are more than a few people having problems with major boost spikes and creep when they bolt a massive compressor and wheel on while using the stock exhuast side, even with a clipped wheel. It seems those who don't clip the wheel experience boost inconsistances, creep and spikes etc, and some who have clipped the wheel find they can't make boost because the clip was to aggressive. Clipping the wheel kind of seems like a band aid in this type of application, and as people are finding clipping the wheel does not always solve the problem.

Hopefully you'll be able to avoid any problems.
