S5 Flywheel in an S4

Is that even possible? I keep reading that you need to keep the same series engine and flywheel (S4 Eng to S4 FW)?

But i also remember reading something about using a auto tranny counterweight somewhere a long time ago?

Thanks,

Jahan

don't put an S5 flywheel on an S4 - viceversa...it will chew the rear main bearing because the weight is different.

You can't put the auto counter weight on a 5spd flywheel, the auto counter weight scenario you are probably thinking of is when you put it on a lightweight flywheel

OK here is the issue, i really kinda need help.

I have S4 N/A. I was planning on purchasing a S5 N/A Light Aluminum Flywheel.

If i get a S4 AUTO Counterweight (rear), i don't see why it would mess with the balancing? Am I missing sonething?

then you are just confusing us, the only difference in light weight flywheels is whether it is for an n/a or turbo. there is no difference between the series for the light flywheels. you will need to get the appropriate rear counterweight for the series you have(S4), if it has the counterweight you might get lucky and find someone willing to trade counterweights straight across.

Because the S5 and S4 rotating assemblies are different weights, what's so hard about that? Now I am not sure if the bolt pattern on the counterweight changed between series, but the weight will be the same since its within the same series.

Your original thread title is incorrect, you mention nothing about a lightwieght flywheel, thats why you got these answers. You asked about an S5 flywheel in an S4 not an S5 lightwieght flywheel with S4 counterweight...........you need to be specific if you want specific answers

all series lightweight flywheel bolt patterns are the same, there is 3 weight rear counterweights: 1029A(FB), S4 and S5/S6 which need to be matched to the series motor it will be installed in. there is only 2 types of clutch excluding 3rd gens(pull type) which are turbo and n/a.
