s5 engine in s4 chassis
ive searched but it seems im the only one not doing a t2 swap so here we go
i have an s4 car and i got a good s5 engine from a friend. so i put my s4 5sp tranny on it(successfully) and dropped it into the car, now my only problem is i was gonna use my s5 ecu and s5 engine harness, but the s4 chassis harness (the one that goes to all the gauges) wont plug in. should i just use the old s4 harness and ecu?? is there any way to get it all to plug in. (s5 ecu was from an automatic car if that matters at all)
thanks so much im stumped

You have to use the s4 harness, period. Otherwise you have to swap out basically every bit of wiring in the whole car, which is a huge undertaking.
Since you now can't use the s5 OMP, you have to swap out the front cover to the s4 front cover from the old engine. This means you also have to use the s4 TB. You must be careful when changing the front cover, and here is why: http://mazdatrix.com/faq/pulley.htm

i think i got most of it thought out, i have to use the s4 ecu and harness, no choice. the worst part is swaping the front cover because of the omp, if i just eliminate it and do premix i should bypass that problem right?? then if i do that do i still have to swap the waterpump/housing and fan??
thank ya in advance.

Its there if you look, the forums have been down so maybe that has something to do with it..
Dude, Block of the OMP on the front cover, just search for 'OMP block plates', I got one for like 10 bucks shipped to me from some rx7-based site that sells nothing but performance block-plates, and plug your oil-injector holes with the appropriate sized caps, I always use teflon tape around the threads for a good seal. (guys, stop me if I am wrong here..)
just run some good tcw3 rated 2-stroke oil mixed at 1 ounce pre gallon in your tank (dont forget your premix!!!)
You should be okay with the S5 front cover if you run premix and block off the OMP passage.
(I am not an rx7 guru, just doing a similar job to my 88 N/A concerning the premix. Anyone who can show me where I am wrong feel free to do so. Thanks!)
