I'd like to make sure mine is clean and ready for the new engine. I would to take it apart to clean it.

I just did it to my seized S4 pump that had been sitting around for about a year. All that was necessary was taking off the back cover and soaking it with P blaster and marvel mystery oil. It freed up after about an hour and now it is as frictionless as ever and doing a good job of pumping air, judging by the sound coming from my air control valve purge port. I got rid of that huge pipe and muffler mumbo jumbo coming off the acv.

Which pipe? Did this go to the cat?, cause I was wondering about this now that I am installing a header and taking out the cat.

If you don't feel like taking the unit apart, just spray silicone spray into the input of the airpump. Work it around a couple times, drain and repeat. Takes about 15 minutes to get all the crud out.
