s5 6-port actuators

ive heard that the s5 6-port actuators operate on vaccum instead of pressure like on the s4; is this true? if i were to put s5 actuators on my s4 and hook them up to a vacuum port (probably through an rpm switch or something) would that work?

actually no they still operate on pressure, only it comes from the airpump rather than from the exhaust.

even still, the real problem with your plan is that on s4 the rods of the actuators move in, and on s5 cars the rods move out. so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work.

there is like a bajillion posts about the 6PI system on this board (a blessing and a curse: so much posts means more garbage and less good data) so do a search and read like 20 or 30 pages. all your questions will be answered = )

also check out FSM for s4 and s5 and compare the 6PI systems.

Totally, completely false. They S5 actuators are pressure driven off the airpump, as mentioned above.

They actuate by pushing out instead of pulling in.

The mounting is totally different.

And, they get their pressure from lines instead of through the intake manifold (there are passages in the S4 manifold).

Finally, they open under high RPM/high load scenarios. There's no vacuum at that point.
