S4 vs S5 tranny

Is there any difference between an S4 and an S5 tranny? It's going into a 1991 JDM GTX

An S4 turbo transmission will have a taller 5th gear (0.719 vs. 0.762), and it will mount differently. You'll need an S4 crossmember and y-bracket to bolt it to your chassis. http://www.mazdatrix.com/g3.htm

thanks for the info,

should I get an S4 clutch assembly and the shifter as well since I will be switching the dog shifter out as well? will it be a direct fit in a 91 GTX ?

another question: Is the clutch/shifter assembly different on right hand drive RX7s ?

Turbo clutches are turbo clutches for FCs, regardless if its s4 or s5.

so the clutch assembly can stay, but I have to change to a factory shifter correct? since the dog shifter is differnet.

Didn't know that... good to know I can swap a s4 back in and still use my s5 shifter.

Me too. The S5 one was ugly and beat to hell, but I have an S4 one in perfect shape.
