S4 Vert / Coupe door interchange?

I have an 88 Vert that needs a driver's door. Does anyone know if a door skin from a coupe will work, or am I looking at trying to find a local doner vert?

This thread SEEMS to say that I can take the skin off the coupe door, but there is some dissent: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ight=vert+door

No wrecking yards near me admit to having any sort of FC so I would have to buy a door from a fellow rx-7 club member and go pick it up, so I'd like to know for sure before I attempt this.

Thanks

Karl

No, you can't use a coupes door panel without major sheetmetal work.

I was afraid someone would say that

In the thread I referenced, you said

Did something change your mind, or am I reading that wrong?

To clarify, my door looks like it has rust holes near the bottom, so I was looking to replace the sheetmetal on the whole door, but I could just replace the lower door skin, if even that part is compatable.

I would think you could use the skin up to the sill. When we built a vert race car the doors were to nice to use so we cut the window frames off some coupe doors.

Yeah, that is right.

See you would have to re-form the rear panel edge where the door frame is on the coupe, but not on the vert.

So that is why I said major sheet metal work

A coupe door would probably bolt up just fine... its getting it to match to the top and existing vert supports and A pillar.
