s4 TII LIM

Ok how many bolts hold the LIM onto the motor on a s4 TII, and do you Have to take the turbo off to get too it? Does someone have a diagram of the bolts, i couldnt find it in the manual. Do these things cause vac leaks alot or, i should say do the gaskets go bad very ofter?

yes, no gasket and a shitty RTV job could definitely cause idle issues. first off RTV would block up the passages for the primary air bleeds and second too much RTV will pooch into the intake runners and cause turbulence, third but questionable is if he did an excessively shotty job it could cause a vacuum leak, the irons tend to move away from the rotor housings when they heat up so pure RTV is a very bad idea to seal the LIM to the block with.

as you noticed, yes the turbo needs to come off to remove the LIM, the turbo fits very tightly against the manifold so even if you could get the bolts off there isn't enough room to pull the LIM off with the turbo still on. there is 4 outer bolts, 2 inner studs/nuts and 1 long bolt that holds the LIM to the block.

Yeah, i needed the turbo off anyways i guess to get my turbo blanket on, well the reason i pulled the lim off was i had a very shitty idle and i could NOT for the life of me figure out why, well i had the uim off and pulled the 90 degree coolant hose off and some coolant came out and it was not collecting on top of the motor it was draining between the lim and the block so i got to looking and there was some rtv pooching out of the seam and i pulled it and almost the whole lim rtv gasket came out so i was like damn that aint good so i just pulled it. My question was if this thing wasent sealing good would that cause a bad bad idle issue? also when i order the new lim gasket i also need the two orings correct?

Air leaks are the numero uno cause of crappy idle..
