S4 T2 eatting threw alternator belt
so i have an 88 t2, and im going to be on my 3rd alternator belt for some reason. so im thinking of getting a dual alternator pully (banzai racing), but i went on the mazdatrix site and saw that they had waterpump underdrive pullies. can you guys point in the direction i should go?

you could buy a gilmer kit from NZ as mazdatrix doesnt have an ac/powersteer version. unless you dont have those then just buy it from mazdatrix. then you get the bonus of gilmer whine.

Not what your looking for...........but are you sure the spacer on the long attach bolt is in the right place? It should be on the aft lug of the alternator, not the front lug of the alternator.

it will supplement the belt that drives the waterpump,,, but has a full wrap on the waterpump pulley and cannot slip
the main reason the single belt dies is it slips past the water pump as it only has about 15 degrees of wrap/drive
the clutched engine fan load, water pump load,, alternator load and hi revs will all combine to rub the sides off your single belt

there is twin pulley kits,, but they are not as practical as they look
,,, is impossible to fully tension both belts
,,, and proves false economy when you now replace the stretched belt with a new pair to try and achieve some semblence of tension on both
-----------------
other reasons for a flogging belt are rust on old pulleys,, alum alt pulleys that have grooved,, or excessive endfloat of the crank
