Yeah, I think there has been a misunderstanding here. The way I read it, beefhole was talking about his busted plastic undertray being one of the reasons he had no need for the Sport undertray recreation, and that is what jerd is referring to as being plentiful in the for sale section.

Do you need a part number to check at a dealer? Mazdatrix doesn't list everything, but there's still a surprising amount of stuff available from Mazda.

I have a stock piece I can test fit this weekend to my Vert. Just been needing a reason, and this does it.

PM me an email address and I'll send you pictures.
I'm of course interested in finding out...being a vert owner and all.

the undertray and belly pan are two different things. the belly pan aids in aero and the undertray aids in cooling. SHEESH!!

he is correct
though a proper built undertray will also aid in aero, but its mostly for the cooling effect to draw out air through the radiator.

The aluminum one (factory or reproduction) goes behind the subframe. The factory plastic one goes in front of the subframe.

i know that. thread got sidetracked because I mentioned it would be nice if a new undertray was made as well as the smaller aero piece.

I work at an oil and lube center and every car that comes in with a skid plate pisses everyone off. Yeah it serves a good purpose but as far as changing the oil it sucks. Oil drips all over it and you can never clean it all the way then the customer comes back asking why they have an oil leak, we tell em that its they're skid plate. Toyota tundras are the worst, next to vw's

Yeah, this thread did get sidetracked, and sorry I can't quote everything because I'm on a phone.

But basically, the clutter started when someone said they weren't interested because they had a busted under tray, and he should make one.

And to HOZZMAN, I think? You completely either didn't read what I posted, or skimmed it. I know the belly pans are rare. So therefore I feel a bit offended at being called a jerk haha.

And to whoever said if I "don't want one, then don't buy one" or whatever, I never said I wanted one, I have one. But multiple people have stopped by to tell this guy what he should make, why they don't want one, and what not. I should not be singled out on the thread jack.

And by no means did I intend to thread jack. But it is what it is.

I need the plastic one and want the aluminium one! Someone make me some sort of giant sheet that will just cover the whole bottom of the car.

My 7 has the factory belly/sport pan and it DOESN'T get in the way of an oil change at all.

Has a customer never flipped on you, telling you to clean the tray, as well as their driveway?

Icemark's comments in this tread got me thinking;

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/aluminum-plastic-belly-pans-820593/

Sure enough in one of my photos of my old '88 T2 roller you can see the aluminum belly pan still attached to the sub frame.
