Very cool but I can't see it bringing you much money if you were to sell it, only because of the price you'd have to charge to recoup the losses from the $75 group buy.

I'm betting that the $75 will be the sole reason this product won't make it.

75 bucks? when you think about it, its not that big of a deal breaker for him to sell 15 units, at about maybe 50 bucks profit. thats 750 bucks. minus the 75, thats 675 bucks in his pocket EASY.

Yeah, that may be true, assuming that 15 people actually ask and pay. FC owners are notoriously cheap.

It's not a matter of having to pay to sell them. It's more of the fact that people don't like to pay for opinions. Honestly, who wants to pay to see if people would even be interested?

There wasn't even a discussion of price, there was zero attempt to sell anything. That is basically saying that you have to pay for information. Because that was all he asked for.

Personally, I wouldn't buy that. It's not really necessary. However, I would buy a new undertray. Most of us have damaged or missing ones and we definitely need them.

Yeah you are right about that. Some folks don't realize just how important the under tray is for the flow of air into the oil cooler. Some of the guys here might say that its not useful but hey i would buy one too. Little things like these keep our cars running thats my 2 cents.

there are many mods tha people make to cars that arent necessary, but this part combine with the stock plastic tray will infact lower the drag coefficient from .32 to .29., it was a factory peice included in the "sport" aero package, granted there was also the rear duck bill spoiler which by design any spoiler adds down force and the little side peices which i doubt aided much in lowering the CD, just look under any high performance car and u will notice a a effort to make the under side of the car as flat or smooth as possible ideally it would be more a of a venturi effect going from large open area in the front of the car tappered to a thinner more compressed area in the middle of the car, tappered back to a larger area at the rear of the car. Air passing through the venturi tube, enters a reducing cross sectional area as the inlet converges. Assuming the flow is incompressible, the law of Conservation of Mass requires that the mass flow through the throat is the same as that entering the inlet Where cross sectional area reduces, the flow velocity must increase. the basis of Bernoulli’s Equation is that "where the flow is fastest, the pressure is least".

I believe he is still waiting on the "Okay" from the mods. Plus, the technical section isn't the place for a group buy. It would be in the "Group Buy and Product Development Interest 2ndgen RX-7" thread.

This is an interesting piece. This guy has fabricated some cool ****.

Lets hope the mods approve soon, because I will put my name down on that list for sure. I know I sound like a broken record, but I really miss my sport and I wish I would have taken better care of it when I had it. This piece will bring back what I lost

I would be interested in a buy.

just a heads up- the thickness of the package is what really increases the shipping costs, a few inches length and width is not a big deal, but go from a 2" to a 3" package and the costs nearly double. The trick for shipping is to reduce the thickness as much as you can .
Through some google searching I found a place that sells any quantity custom boxes and even then found it was cheaper to buy 2 boxes per unit then a single larger box. I would slide them together and the reduced my box costs from about $20 single larger box to about $8-$9 even with using the 2 boxes. I ordered custom 2" boxes because this reduced my shipping to about $22-24 over using a larger box at over $40.
By buying the smaller boxes I was also able to get them UPS to me with no over sized charges.

I also found fed ex ground to be cheaper then UPS. just trying to help because I know shipping can be the deal breaker with projects like this.

I would buy it because I like nice stuff for my car, but until there is an actual group buy page and list....... its just vapor-ware to me.

No offense to your product, it is nice, but I don't give a damn about .29Cd. I do give a damn about proper cooling. If most of us have a busted *** or missing undertray, this won't help us much. I wish you luck making these and hopefully you'll continue to make products for the 2nd gen guys.

It would be nice if you could generate a piece that would work with a Vert as well.

I have a stock piece I can test fit this weekend to my Vert. Just been needing a reason, and this does it.

PM me an email address and I'll send you pictures.

So I am 1- jealous you have access to that kind of machinery. And 2- curious on where the group buy stands. I would probably order one or both!

1) Why not just spend a couple bucks and buy one from here? I had a part out thread and had 2 undertrays, They are now in the junkyard. I'm sure an undertray would run maybe $15 bucks tops. Where as if he made one, it'd run quite a bit higher.

2) Why would he recreate a piece that is readily available on any RX7 forum?

3) This is for people who want to recreate the S4 sport package and results without having to track down one of these or spend the $400 bucks it costs to buy one of the few new ones.

You ever try posting a WTB thread? Because usually, if someone knows you are looking for something, they will let you know if they have it. Those *months* you spent searching could have turned into a few days or a few weeks at most if you'd not rely on everyone to post everything they have laying around.

Does anybody know for sure if this would fit S5? Fast87t2 I would purchase one. Also consider leaving it in the aluminum stage. The purchaser could have it painted/powder coated or just left as it is! That way, you save on time and cost to purchaser... Great Job!!!

Agreed. I must have missed these supposed for sale threads. The ones I did see for sale, the seller either did not get back to me (or anyone else), or the seller wanted $50 to ship it. It's a wonder they had it for sale at $20

I DO have one, but the entire left side of it is missing, and has no support. Many of the mounting tabs are also ripped off, or the holes are HUGE and even a washer can't hold it in place. So it would be nice to find a good one. I can't even "bite the bullet" and buy one brand new. Or maybe I'm just not finding it on mazdatrix.

Ok, I'll call you out on this one.

jerd (better spelled a "k"), show me one for sale thread, or WTB thread where there was a response for one of these aluminum belly pans with the last 12 months. Hell, make it 24 months.

^ Hozz, I think they're talking about the black plastic undertray that came on all FCs, not the aluminum undertray that sits under the engine.

We all know the aluminum undertray is rare!
