S4 to S5 turbo question

Simple question: Will an S5 turbo and manifold fit on an S4 (88TII)? I think the turbo on my car is going out, but I have an S5 turbo on a manifold to replace it. Is this a hard swap? Any info would be appreciated!

Yes, I searched, but anytime I put S5 or S4 into the searchline, it wouldn't perform the search for me :: shrugs ::

I'm not totally sure but I believe it will.

I would recommend getting the S5 manifold too since they are suppose to flow better.

The S5 intake manifold? If you're talking about the S5 turbo manifold, It's still on the turbo

If you have the complete S5 turbo and manfold to swap, its a bolt in upgrade. The s5 turbo won't fit on an s4 manifold and vice versa. But if you have both s5 pieces its strictly boltin. I'm going to be doing this exact swap once the weather warms up. I plan to port the wastegates in the s5 unit before I install it. I hear the oil lines are different though, but I'm not entirely sure.

Thanks for the replies gents.

Anyone actually done this?

And xzyras, when you say I have to use my oil and coolant line, you just mean I have to run them to the new turbo, or do I have to modify them/or the turbo?

(sorry, kinda new still)

Accually you will only need the s4 oil return line! The other lines are the same size, shape and all. But the S5 oil return line is longer because the oil return nipple is in a dirrerent place on the s5 than the s4. ( farther away). Thats all. I did this swap.

I have done this swap on my 10th Ann w/ an upgraded compressor wheel, clipped exhaust wheel, and ported wastegate. All in all, I am really pleased with the mod. Besides, given the relatively low cost of this upgrade, the return in performance is great.

I don't have any dyno numbers, but my guess is around 20-30 extra hp over the S4 manifold and turbo.
